The Allen-Bradley 1794-OA8 is an 8-point discrete AC output module engineered for the FLEX I/O platform. Designed for high-performance distributed control, this module provides a reliable interface for switching 120VAC field-side loads from a centralized controller. Its modular, small-footprint design allows for efficient use of cabinet space while placing control points closer to actuators, reducing cabling complexity and installation costs.

This Series A module features 8 independent sourcing output channels rated at a nominal 120VAC. It operates across a wide voltage range of 85 to 132VAC (47–63 Hz), making it compatible with standard industrial power systems. The module is designed to snap onto a required FLEX I/O terminal base (such as the 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, or 1794-TBN), which provides the physical screw terminals for field wiring and the communication interface to the FlexBus backplane.

A primary advantage of the 1794-OA8 is its support for "Removal and Insertion Under Power" (RIUP). This capability allows maintenance personnel to replace a module without powering down the entire system or interrupting the operation of other modules on the same FLEX I/O rail. The front panel includes 8 dedicated status LEDs that provide immediate visual confirmation of the state of each output, significantly streamlining troubleshooting and system diagnostics.

Built for the rigors of heavy industrial duty, the module operates reliably between 0–55°C (32–131°F). It features robust electro-optical isolation between the field-side signals and the sensitive controller logic, drawing a maximum of 80mA from the 5VDC FlexBus. The unit is manufactured to meet stringent UL, CSA, and E standards, ensuring a safe and compliant output interface for global machinery and process automation applications.
