Allen Bradley Bulletin 1747 | SLC 500 DeviceNet Scanner Module, Single-Slot, Compatible with SLC 5/02–5/05, Series B
The Allen-Bradley 1747-SDN is a DeviceNet Communication Scanner Module for the SLC 500 platform, acting as the interface between DeviceNet field devices and the SLC 500 processor. The module communicates with DeviceNet devices over the network, soliciting data from or delivering data to each connected device via strobe, poll, change-of-state, and/or cyclic messages. Input data received from devices is organized by the SDN module and made available to the SLC 500 processor; output data from the processor is organized and sent on to field devices.
The 1747-SDN is a single-slot module compatible with SLC 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors and communicates with the processor through M1/M0 file transfers and discrete I/O, exchanging configuration data, device I/O data, and status information. Supported I/O messaging configurations include Polled, Strobe, Change-of-State, and Cyclic I/O. The module also supports a Pass-Through configuration where it acts as a bridge connecting a separate DeviceNet network — designed to replace the 1770-KFD, 1784-PCD, 1784-PCID, or 1784-PCIDS DeviceNet connections. Pass-Through is supported with SLC 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors only.
The 1747-SDN supports up to 63 DeviceNet nodes at a baud rate of 125 Kbps and draws 500mA of backplane current at 5VDC and 90mA at 24VDC. DeviceNet-to-backplane isolation is 30V (basic insulation type), tested at 500V AC for 60 seconds. Two front-panel LEDs provide module status and network status indication.
The module operates between 0–60°C at 5–95% non-condensing humidity, with a 30G shock rating and 2G vibration withstand at 10–500Hz. It carries a CISPR 11, Group 1, Class A emissions rating. The 1787-PLUG10R linear plug for DeviceNet connection is ordered separately.
