The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB8 is an SLC 500 series digital DC input module manufactured by Rockwell Automation, featuring 8 current sinking input channels rated at 24VDC. It is approved for use in all non-hazardous industrial locations as well as hazardous locations classified as Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, or D.
The module provides 8 inputs with 8 points per common and operates over an input voltage range of 10–30VDC, making it a compact, lower-density alternative for SLC 500 applications that don't require a full 16-channel module.
Each input channel has a maximum signal delay of 8ms for both ON and OFF transitions, a maximum off-state voltage of 5VDC, and a maximum off-state current of 1mA, with a nominal input current of 8mA at 24VDC. The module dissipates up to 1.9 watts of heat during normal operation, with 4.4 BTU/hr of thermal dissipation. Backplane isolation is tested at 1500V AC, with communication circuit isolation tested at 500V.
The 1746-IB8 operates between 0–60°C at 5–95% non-condensing humidity, with a 30G shock rating and 2.5G vibration tolerance at 57–500Hz. It carries UL and CE certifications and meets NEMA standard ICS 2-230 noise immunity requirements.
