The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 is a medium-density DC input module built for the SLC 500 platform, designed to interface with signal devices operating within a 10–30VDC range. It features 16 discrete sinking input channels rated at a nominal 24VDC, all organized into a single input group with a shared common terminal.

The module includes a color-coded removable terminal block (RTB) that simplifies wiring and allows for easy I/O module swaps without rewiring, along with optical isolation between input and backplane, surge protection, and input filtering for reliable performance in noisy industrial environments.

Compatible input devices include limit switches, proximity switches, pushbuttons, and auxiliary contacts of relays and contactors. Each channel carries a maximum signal delay of 8ms for both ON and OFF transitions, with a maximum off-state voltage of 5VDC and off-state current of 1mA.

The module operates between 0–60°C with 5–95% relative humidity and has a storage temperature range of -40 to 85°C. It carries a 30G operational shock rating and withstands 2.5G vibration at 57–200Hz, with 1500V electro-optical isolation between input terminals and control logic. It is UL, CSA, and CE certified.
