The Allen-Bradley 1756-IF16 is a versatile, high-performance analog input module engineered for the ControlLogix platform. It is designed to interface with continuous-signal field devices, converting analog data into digital values for high-speed processing. A key feature of this module is its flexible architecture, which allows it to be configured for maximum density (16 channels) or maximum performance (4 high-speed channels) depending on the needs of the application.
In its standard configuration, the 1756-IF16 supports 16 single-ended or 8 differential inputs. However, for time-critical processes requiring rapid data acquisition, the module can be configured to provide 4 differential high-speed inputs. In this specialized mode, the module groups internal resources to deliver much faster scan times and enhanced signal processing, making it ideal for high-speed motion feedback, turbine control, or rapid pressure monitoring applications.
The module supports multiple signal ranges including ±10V, 0–10V, 0–5V, 1–5V, and 0–20mA / 4–20mA current loops with a high-fidelity 16-bit resolution. It features advanced onboard scaling to engineering units and sophisticated digital filtering (including notch filters) to eliminate electromagnetic interference. For physical termination, it requires a 36-pin Removable Terminal Block (RTB) such as the 1756-TBNH or 1756-TBSH.
Built for the most demanding industrial environments, the 1756-IF16 provides 250V continuous isolation between the field terminals and the backplane logic, ensuring system stability during electrical transients. It operates reliably across a 0–60°C temperature range and is fully compatible with standard 1756 chassis. The unit is UL, CSA, and CE certified, meeting global standards for safety and reliability in mission-critical automation systems.
