10..30VDC, DC Current sourcing 16 Point input module
The Allen-Bradley 1746-IV16 is an SLC 500 sourcing discrete input module featuring 16 channels that accept a nominal input voltage of 24VDC over a 10–30VDC operating range. Unlike standard sinking input modules, the 1746-IV16 supports source wiring configuration — meaning the module itself supplies the signal voltage to the loop, making it the ideal choice for sensors and devices that do not carry their own input signal voltage.
The module is commonly used to interface with switches, auxiliary contacts, sensors, and other devices that provide binary ON/OFF signal states. It occupies a single slot in the SLC 500 chassis, helping to maximize available I/O slots, and supports both expansion rack and remote I/O rack configurations.
The 1746-IV16 features a removable terminal block that eliminates rewiring during module replacement, and front-panel LED indicators provide clear at-a-glance input status for simplified troubleshooting. Module input values are accessible by SLC 500 processors via Ladder Logic programming.
The module draws 85mA of backplane current at 5VDC, has a nominal input current of 8mA at 24VDC, and a maximum power dissipation of 3.6W. Signal delay is 0.3ms during ON-state and 0.5ms during OFF-state. It operates between 0–60°C at 5–95% non-condensing relative humidity.
