Allen Bradley 1747-PIC SLC 500 Series PC Interface

The Allen-Bradley 1747-PIC is an RS-232 to DH-485 interface converter for the SLC 500 platform, allowing RS-232 devices such as a personal computer running RSLogix 500 programming software to connect to and communicate with a DH-485 network and compatible SLC 500 processors including the SLC 5/01, 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, 5/05, and MicroLogix 1000, 1200, and 1500 controllers.

The converter features a 25-pin connector for the interface pin-out, a 2-pin connector for transmitting data from the PC to the converter, a 20-pin connector for PC-to-converter communication, and a 3-pin connector for receiving data from the converter back to the PC. An 11-inch (279.4 mm) ribbon cable is attached to the converter for connection to the computer serial port.

The 1747-PIC works exclusively with built-in COM1 and COM2 serial communication ports and is not compatible with USB-to-serial adapters or serial port extender boards that add additional COM port capacity. It is used in conjunction with a 1747-AIC Isolated Link Coupler and the standard 1747-C10 cable to connect to the DH-485 network.

The converter measures 13 x 10 x 20 cm and weighs approximately 0.29 kg. It is powered through the RS-232 serial port connection and requires no external power supply when used with a compatible PC serial port.
